SIBRON

Features

In 1988, Sibron was the first pneumatic ejection emergency parachute launch device

the energy source is a fire-fighting tank loaded with compressed air at 160 bar and inspectable with the reading of a fixed pressure gauge. Changes in indication on the order of 15 bars caused by thermal variations in the environment testify to the actual presence of air, its pressure and the correct operation of the pressure gauge.

There is a safe on the body of the device, in the part close to the launch plate, highlighted by a long ribbon of colored cloth. If the device is operated with the secure insert it blocks all movements: in this case the device must be rearranged by Comelli srl.

The dynamics of the launch are expulsive: the entire parachute is launched forcefully and away from possible obstacles that could preclude its opening. In the first phase the funicular beam is stretched out and only when it has gone into tension does the diplopment of the veil begin.

Installation

The safe is placed on the cylinder in the part near the launch plate, and is highlighted so as not to forget to remove it before the ignition of the engine, from a long ribbon of colored cloth. It must be inserted on the ground, with engine off, always.

Premise: since the type of aircraft is very wide, it is practically impossible to provide specific data for assembly on each model. In order to help you optimize the installation work, the general rules are considered below. Comelli srl, reminds you that it is at your disposal for information and for the solution of particular installation problems.

Sibron should be installed at the farthest point from the obstacles that could make the launch problematic. It must be directed in the opposite direction to the forward motion or possibly with component in this direction

The placement of the parachute must not decompensate the balance of the masses of the aircraft; the structural component on which you will fix the launcher must be dimensionally adequate to withstand both the inertial stresses in take-off and landing, as well as those due to the reaction during a possible launch.

The position of the control handle must be chosen in such a way as to make it easily accessible both by the pilot and by the possible passenger (e.g. student instructor)

Attention: the control handle must, however, remain accessible to the pilot even if it is subjected to violent accelerations and centrifugations, resulting for example, of a structural failure or a collision in flight. Please note that, in case of launch, the drive handle must be gripped and driven with one or two hands with all the strength and throughout its stroke. The effort actually required is on the order of 8 Kg and the actual stroke is 10 cm. The relatively short ride requires a modest displacement of the pilot’s arm thus avoiding dangerous interference with the adjacent structures of the aircraft (e.g. in a narrow and closed cabin). It is recommended, at the time of installation, to check that the drive handle cannot, in any way, accidentally become entangled in the pilot’s or passenger’s clothing, seat belts or otherwise: this could cause the system to accidentally fire.

The cable and the constraint bridle are positioned in such a way as to guarantee: the maximum possible robustness, obtained possibly affecting different areas with a system of bridles in which the failure of a part does not free to the smoothness of the whole system (the load required in a strong shock of opening a direct pod emergency parachute can be on the order of 5 g, and exceptionally even higher and you can also add additional components for example for the action due to the Warning: this set-up obliges the structures of the aircraft (mainly the landing gear) to absorb in two stages much of the impact energy with the ground, to the benefit of the safety of the crew. To force the aircraft to assume this position it is necessary to fix the constraint to the constraint in a robust point of the structure in a higher and backward position than the center of gravity. It is recalled that the center of gravity moves significantly according to the load centering (e.g. with or without a passenger); the free deployment of the cable at launch, without dangerous interference with the structures of the aircraft or with the body of the pilot or passenger.

The steel constraint MUST have a certain abundance (60-70 cm) in the immediate vicinity of the launch plate. During the acceleration phase of the parachute, at the operation of the device, the traction exerted on the constraint from the launch plate will cause the breakage of the first buckets without sending the steel cable into tension and releasing a part, which will eventually be the one to go within the range of the propeller. The steel cable should not be freed from the ogive’s restraint ropes since the use of rigid plastic cable ties could due to vibrations, wear down such ropes with the effect of releasing even a single pair of springs that could interfere with the propeller.

In the placement of the Sibron, verify that the lever of the spring-release device, held in place by the plug connected to the handle cable, can freely carry out its rotational stroke until it aligns with the axle of the cylinder, without encountering obstacles on the path
